Sony's PXW-FS7 is a ideal camcorder for documentaries, unscripted TV, newsmagazines, indie features, corporate video and more. It can record in your choice of XAVC-I, XAVC-L, or MPEG-2. After getting some 4K material from Sony PXW-FS7, you may search possible workflows for XAVC to Davinci Resolve, so as to have smooth work with the Sony PXW-FS7 XAVC-I/XAVC-L footage. In this article, we will outline how to import Sony PXW-FS7 XAVC to Davinci Resolve 9/10/11/12.

Granted, up to now, DaVinci Resolve 11.3 supports Sony XAVC Intra encoding without much problem, but in fact, editing Sony FS7 4K XAVC-L at 240 Mbps in Resolve requires 1/4th the cost in memory and storage. Thankfully you probably don't have to buy a new computer... but you'd better to convert such high definition 4K XAVC-Long GOP videos from Sony FS7 to DaVinci Resolve using DNxHD.mov (1080p) as primary delivery format to solve the incompatible trouble.

Now I share the guide with you how to convert Sony PXW-FS7 XAVC to Davinci Resolve friendly format using Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac. With it, you can effortlessly encode/re-encode XAVC intra footage shot from Sony PXW-FS7 as well as PWM-F5, F55, PXW-X180, etc for smoothly importing and editing in various non-linear editing systems (NLE), including Davinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, iMovie and more. If you’re using a Windows, please turn to Video Converter, which can help you solve the XAVC codec to Davinci Resolve 9/10/11/12 incompatibility on Windows.
